Pune: PMC Becomes Largest Municipality In Maharashtra with merger of 23 Villages

The Maharashtra State government has issued a final notification to include 23 more villages under Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) jurisdiction on Wednesday. After a long delay, the 23 villages have finally been incorporated into the civic body making PMC the largest municipality in the state.

Deputy Chief Minister for state Sh. Ajit Pawar on 29 June 2021 gave instructions during a meeting held in Mumbai to classify government hospitals, schools, water supply schemes, Anganwadis, officers and employees of 11 villages that were merged into the Pune Municipal Corporation earlier.

At the same time, he instructed to incorporate the remaining 23 villages in the municipal corporation’s jurisdiction. However, this could only be done after a notification was issued.

Therefore, the proposal to include the 23 villages in PMC limits was signed on 30 June 2021 and a final notification in this regard was issued by the State government. After which, the remaining 23 villages have now merged into the PMC in a real sense.

Villages incorporated in PMC: Mahalunge, Sus, Bavdhan Budruk, Kirkatwadi, Pisoli, Kondhve-Dhavade, Kopare, Nanded, Khadakwasla, Manjari Budruk, Narhe, Holkarwadi, Autade-Handewadi, Wadachiwadi, Shewalewadi, Nandoshi, Sanasnagar, Mangdewadi, Gujar Nimbalkarwadi, Bhilarewadi, Jambhulwadi, Kolewadi, and Wagholi.
